Today, members of the "New Apparatus Committee" visited the 4 Guys plant again; this time, to conduct the "Pre-Paint Inspection" on the new Engine/Tanker. This inspection involves insuring that all of the metal work is completed appropriately; all of the compartments and shelving positions are properly "laid-out"; some of the proper locations for tool placement are chosen; lights and electrical issues are finalized; the proper paint scheme/surfaces and colors are finalized; and all of the graphics are chosen and placed in the locations we want them.
We arrived at the plant at 7 AM with a light dusting of "snow" on the ground. We continuously worked with section managers until nearly 3 PM (lunch break included) to insure that everything was to our satisfaction. After speaking with the plant manager, the painting should be completed within the next 2 weeks and we should be going back up to the plant before Christmas for a post-paint inspection. We will also be taking all of the equipment from our current unit to the plant so that it can be mounted/stored in its proper locations.
Committee members present: Chief Chad Green, Captain Chris Harris, Lieutenant Steve Keeney, Lieutenant Tom Marble, President Tom Garber and Fleet Maintenance Engineer Archy Jones.
