Golf Tournament a Huge Success

Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Lieutenant 8-2 Christopher Harris
August 28, 2013

The Union Bridge Fire Company would like to thank everyone who participated in this years annual golf tournament. 21 teams made it a huge success! Though it drizzled and rained for the last 7 or 8 holes, the tournament was able to continue and finish. Despite the cloudy/rainy end to golfing, rain gave way while golfers enjoyed a great meal cooked by members of the fire company.

Here is the list of winners for the day:

1st Prize - Round of golf for 4 with cart at Glade Valley Golf Club:
Rick Frame, Hector Andrade, Boop Freise, Jeff Stocksdale
(Actual Winners Deferred the prize: Brad Jenkins, John Stambaugh, Kenny Fink, Charlie Manderfield)

2nd Prize - Round of golf for 4 with cart at Westminster National Golf Course:
Duane Myers, Matt Davis, Mike Duffy, Bobby Shugars

3rd Prize - Top Flight Golf Gift Pack:
Ron Johnikin, Tim Cook, Alvin Naill, Mark Czarniak

Closest to the Pin - Free round of golf at Glade Valley Golf Club:
Hole #3 - David Davidson;
Hole #8 - Mike Lathe;
Hole #13 - David Berke;
Hole #15 - Cecelia Smith;

Longest Drive: Callaway Burner Superfast 2.0 TP Driver:
Hole #17 - Collin Kendall

Though some came close, there were no winners for the Par 3 Hole-in-One prizes which included: $10,000, Sea Mist Golf Trip for 2, $500 Gift Certificate for Zero Restriction Apparel and a set of Callaway Diablo Edge Irons. Maybe next year folks!

We did give out a special prize for a "Double Eagle" on a Par 5 to Dale Yingling. He received a gift card to the Texas Roadhouse, Dinner for 2.

We also had a special player. The tournaments youngest ever player, Brandon Athey, 8, played a good game with his father. The tournament was a gift for his 9th birthday. As our gift to him, he was given an autographed baseball signed by Orioles pitcher Brian Matusz. Happy Birthday Brandon!!!!!!!

We hope everyone will be back next year for another great day of golfing while supporting our local volunteer fire company. Your support is invaluable to help us continue to provide fire, rescue and EMS services to our community and those that surround us.
