March 18, 2013

Box 10-7. At 1843 hrs, just after units returned from the house fire in the 5-13 box, Rescue Squad 8 was dispatched to assist Station 10 units for a MVC with entrapment in the 2300 block of Uniontown Road. Lt 6-1 arrived first with two vehicles, head-on, and confirmed the "Working Rescue".

Rescue Squad 8 arrived next and began assisting with treating Priority 1 victims in both vehicles. Paramedic 89 and Paramedic 37 also responded to assist. The driver of one of the vehicles was heavily entrapped and fatally injured. Both Priority 1 patients were transported by Paramedic Units to Shock Trauma.

Rescue Squad 8 remained on the scene until 2057 hrs to extricate the fatally injured victim and to assist the police. The cause of the incident is under investigation.

The Union Bridge Fire Company extends our condolences to the family of the victim.
