| At just after 1200 hours, Paramedic 89 was dispatched to assist the Maryland State Police in a Stand-Off/Barricade situation on Marble Quarry Road, just outside of Union Bridge. Paramedic 89 and Utility 8 (Lt. Harris) took a position at the intersection of Priestland Rd and Quaker Hill Rd to stand-by while the MSP conducted their operations. Lt. Harris gathered information to prepare for the possibility of an EMS incident. It was reported that a disabled person was inside the residence along with the suspect.
Multiple police agencies were involved with the incident including two MSP Medivac Troopers and roads were closed around the area by 'Carroll County Highway' crews.
At around 1500 hours, Paramedic 89 was placed in-service and returned to the station. Then, at around 1700 hours, the MSP requested canteen service from Station 8, through "Carroll" dispatch, since the police had been on the scene since about 1100 hours.
Again, at around 1800 hours, just as Utility 8 was about to respond with canteen, Paramedic 89 and Medic 109 were dispatched to assist the MSP. This time, units were dispatched to the intersection of McKinstry's Mill Rd and Marble Quarry Rd, near the MSP Command Post. Utility 8 delivered the canteen service then staged with the EMS units on location. Assistant Chief Cartwright assumed the fire department's "Medical Command".
All units cleared about 1 hour later after the MSP had taken the suspect into custody and there were no injuries reported. |
