Gene Curfman Honored in CCVESA Hall of Fame |

On Saturday, May 14th, Gene Curfman was inducted into the Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association "Hall of Fame". The great honor is bestowed upon individuals who have dedicated much of their lives to the citizens of their communities and those of Carroll County. The Union Bridge Fire Company is extremely proud of Gene's accomplishments and dedicated service to our fire company; and we congratulate him on his induction to the "Hall of Fame". Gene joined the Union Bridge Fire Company on January 2, 1967. During his 48 years of service to the department, Gene has served on numerous committees, held many elected offices and served on County and State level positions. Prior to becoming a member of the Union Bridge Fire Company, Gene was a member of the New Windsor Fire Company. He is also currently a member of the Harney Fire Company, where he is holding the office of Treasurer. The following is a sampling of the dedication and commitment of this outstanding volunteer. STATE LEVEL COUNTY LEVEL President 1974-1975, 1979, 1982-1987, 1990-1991 Gene has served on numerous company committees, including: 100th Anniversary Committee Gene has also been instrumental in requesting and obtaining several federal grants, including turnout gear, a new station generator, the Adashi apparatus computer system, an apparatus bay vehicle exhaust system and currently, a grant for a new ambulance, which we are still waiting to see if we will be awarded the funding. Gene has taken numerous training courses on the county and state levels, as well as company-level training. Gene has been, and continues to be very dedicated to our fund raising efforts. Gene can be found every year at our carnival. On the second Sunday each month, you can find Gene at our public breakfast. The Officers and Members of the Union Bridge Fire Company are very proud of this committed man. His actions speak for themselves. He has given selflessly to the company for 48 years and deserves to be recognized for his accomplishments. His induction into the Carroll County Hall of Fame is a tremendous honor. He is a volunteer in the true sense of the word, and the Union Bridge Fire Company is proud to have him as one of our family. When the call goes out at Union Bridge for a level-headed experienced member to assist in decision-making, Gene Curfman’s name is always mentioned as the man to “fill the bill”. Congratulation Gene!!!!! Thank you for everything you have done and continue to do. |
