Frederick County Box 17-19. At 1818hrs, Station 8 (E81, ET82, RS8, M89) was dispatched along with other Frederick and Carroll County units, for a House Fire at 11018 Green Valley Road in Johnsville. While units were enroute, “Frederick” advised of a working fire. An additional “Working Fire” and a “Tanker Task Force” were dispatched to assist.

Frederick Co. Engine 172 was the first to arrive with fire showing from the ‘Bravo/Charlie/Delta’ Sides of the structure. The crew quickly deployed two 1 ¾” Attack Lines. A “Transitional Attack” was used on “Side Delta” initially and after a quick knockdown, a line was taken through the “Side Alpha” entrance to the second floor.

Engine 81 arrived and was directed to “Division 2” to assist with fire attack. Engine 81 provided water to FC Engine 172 and Captain 8 was assigned “Division 2”. The crew conducted a primary search along with pulling wall and ceiling materials to assist with extinguishment. The crew also made access to the attic to check for extension into the space and to provide horizontal ventilation.

Engine/Tanker 82 assisted with on-scene water supply while the crew, along with the crew from Rescue Squad 8, were assigned “Rapid Intervention Team”. Medic 89 arrived and was assigned “Rehab”.

The majority of the fire was extinguished within 5 minutes and the incident was under control within 15 minutes. Crews from other Frederick and Carroll County companies arrived to assist with “Overhaul”. Due to the high temperature and humidity, crews were rotated for rest periods frequently.

The incident was scaled back after 1 hour. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by fire investigators. One firefighter from Frederick County was transported by Medic 89, to Frederick Memorial Hospital with a non-life threatening illness. There were no other injuries.

All Station 8 units were in-service by 2035hrs.
