A water tank leak on Engine 81 that started about 3 weeks ago, progressively got worse, to the point that a 1/4 of a tank of water was leaking per day. On Sunday, the hose and hosebed were removed from the Engine by members so that the repairs could begin on Monday. A representative from United Plastic Fabrications, the tanks manufacturer, came to the fire station to repair the tank.

Upon closer inspection, the representative found that the sidewall of the tank had separated from the internal structure. This discovery meant a much longer downtime and major repair issues. Internal baffels and pipes needed to be removed to allow for the sidewall repair. After 2 days of repairs, the sidewall had been reattached and the original leak was fixed. Members of the company replaced the hosebed and the hose after the tank was filled and tested this afternoon. The unit is now back in-service. The repairs were completed as part of the Lifetime Warranty on the UPF Tank and cost Union Bridge nothing.
