Box 2-12. At 1245 hrs., units from Hampstead, Manchester, Westminster, Reese and Glyndon (Batimore Co.) were dispatched for a field fire with extension to a house near the intersection of Route 482 and Boerner Road. On arrival, units found both a working field fire and house fire back a long lane at 1237 Boerner Road. Engine 23 requested a "Brush Task Force" for the fast moving field fire and Chief 2 (J. Carroll) established "Boerner Command". Within moments, "Command" requested the "RID" (Rapid Intervention Dispatch) and a "Tanker Task Force" for the "Working House Fire".

Engine/Tanker 82 was dispatched as part of the "Tanker Task Force" at 1318 hrs. On arrival at the fire scene, the crew was transported back to the fire ground in Utility 6. The crew was placed into personnel staging for a short time before being rotated into the "RIT" position.

After about 5 minutes, Engine/Tanker 82's crew was sent to "Division 2" for overhaul operations. The crew opened a few walls and pulled some aluminum siding from the 2nd floor exterior walls to check for extension and extinguishment of fire. After completing the tasks assigned by "Command", the crew exited the structure and was subsequently released from the fire ground by "Command".

A resident of the home received burns and was transported to a "Burn Center" for treatment. According to initial reports, the fire started in the field adjacent to the home and eventually set the house on fire. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the incident. Engine/Tanker 82 returned to the station at 1555 hrs.
