| At 2:48 AM, Structure Alarm 8-5 was dispatched for Union Bridge and New Windsor to 950 McKinstry's Mill Rd. near Linwood. Union Bridge member Dave Nelson (Communications 32) arrived first and reported a fully involved shed. E101 and E81 arrived on the scene to find an extremely steep driveway that units were unable to use. A 300' "Apartment Pack" was stretched by E101 up the hill and to the rear of the property. The shed, a 10' x 10' steel building and the contents in and near the building were destroyed by the fire. The Incident Commander, Lieutenant C. Harris, suspected that the fire may have been arson after speaking to the occupants of the property. The State Fire Marshal and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office were requested to respond due to the situation. The fire was extinguished by firefighters within 5 minutes after arrival and the scene was secured awaiting the arrival of FM 34. There was no other apparent damage to anything other than the shed and the contents in and next to the building. Units cleared within an hour while E81 remained on the scene until the Fire Marshal arrived. The cause is under investigation by the State Fire Marhals Office. Pictures will be added soon. |
