Frederick County Box 17-35. At 09:15 hours, Station 8 units were dispatched for a tractor-trailer MVC with roll-over on Route 75 near Beaverdam Road. ATR-1 (Cartwright) was first to arrive on-scene (MVC at his driveway entrance) confirming a tractor-trailer carrying cement, on it's side. He established "Route 75 Command" and requested the usual response of police and the SHA for road closure. He also established that the driver was unable to self-extricate.

Paramedic 89 and Rescue Squad 8 arrived to evaluate and begin extrication. Frederick County Engine 171 provided a hand-line and assistance with the extrication as well. Rescue Squad 8's crew removed the windshield, cut posts and 'flapped' the roof before using "Ram's" to spread the dash away from the patients legs. The patient was extricated within 10 minutes and transported by land to Shock Trauma for evaluation.

The road was shut down for several hours to up-right the truck and removal of cement from the roadway. No other vehicles were involved and the incident is under investigation by the Maryland State Police (Frederick Barrack).

This is the second tractor-trailer MVC at this location this month and is the site of frequent crashes involving tractor-trailers over the years. Speed is usually a factor in these incidents. All drivers are urged to slow down and use caution while driving in this area.
