All-Terrain Go-Cart MVC on Fire House Parking Lot
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Captain Christopher Harris
August 15, 2016

Rescue Alarm 8. At around 15:30 hrs, a 2-seat All-terrain Go-Cart being operated by a single person, rolled over in the fire house main parking lot, causing traumatic injuries to the operator. On-Duty EMS personnel in the station were summoned by a firefighter who was leaving the station parking lot as the incident occurred.

As EMS personnel arrived, they found the victim partially under the chassis of the Go-Cart and began to access the victim. It was determined that the victim had been partially ejected during the roll-over and unconcious for a few minutes prior to the arrival of EMS personnel, leading to the patients status to be upgraded to "Priority 1 - Category A" (Life-Threatening Injury). Maryland State Police Aviation was immediately requested for transport to a Trauma Center.

Personnel lifted the Go-Cart off of the patient who was quickly packaged and transported to the 'Landing Zone' that was established by Engine 81 at the Elmer A. Wolfe Elementary School. Maryland State Police 'Trooper 3' arrived a short time later and transported the patient to Shock Trauma.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash, which is currently under investigation by the Carroll County Sheriff's Office.

Units: M-89, E-81
