It is with deep sadness that the Union Bridge Fire Company announces the passing of Glenda Ann Etzler. Our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. Glenda was a special part of our company and will be greatly missed.

Frederick News Post Obituary:

Mrs. Glenda Ann Etzler, 68, of Union Bridge, died Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at her home. Born June 23, 1946 in Frederick County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar C. Linton Jr. and June Elizabeth Keilholtz Linton. She was the wife of Richard "Rick" Etzler.

Glenda had been employed with the Frederick County government in the maintenance department and then the Frederick County Sheriff's Department with the work release program as an administrative assistant. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Union Bridge; the Union Bridge Fire Co., was a member and current secretary of the Union Bridge Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and the New Midway Volunteer Fire Co. Her most cherished achievement was organizing the first silent auction at the Union Bridge carnival, along with its continued annual success. She was very active in the past with the Frederick County 4-H program at the Frederick Fair and the Maryland 4-H All Stars. She had also been a member of the Maryland Sheep Breeders Association and was instrumental in helping with the Maryland Sheep Show. Glenda was the secretary of the Walkersville High School Alumni Association and was instrumental with planning the 50th reunion. She always gave credit to those that worked so hard with her. Glenda loved flower gardening, visiting Chincoteague, VA and spending time with her especially the grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by everyone whom she had touched in her life and will again be with those whom she has grieved for in the past.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by 3 great sons; Brett R. Etzler and wife Page of Union Bridge; Bryan D. Etzler and wife Michele of New Windsor and Brad Etzler and wife Rebi of U.S.C.G. Cutter Campbell of Kittery, ME and Coos Bay, OR; 10 grandchildren and 1 great granddaughter, all of whom were so very very special in her life. She was predeceased by a sister, Felicia E. Bohn.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro, with Rev. Richard L. Michael, her pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Uniontown.
