By Lieutenant 8-2 Christopher Harris
March 29, 2013

Box 8-4. At 0449 hrs, Station 8 units were dispatched for a MVC Serious, at the intersection of McKinstry's Mill Road and Green Valley Road (Route 75). A Station 8 firefighter (T. Schuster) was in the vehicle providing patient care when Chief 8 (C.Green) arrived at 0456 hrs. Chief Green quickly determined that it was a single vehicle MVC and the victim was not trapped, however, the vehicle had completely rolled over before resting against a tree.

The single occupant of the vehicle was surveyed by Paramedic 89's crew and determined Maryland State Police Aviation was needed to transport the victim to Shock Trauma. The crews from Rescue Squad 8 and Engine 81 stabilized the vehicle and assisted with the removal of the patient from the vehicle.

The crew from Engine 81 then shut down Green Valley Road and an LZ was established next to the scene on the roadway. At 0540, MSP Trooper 3 went enroute to Shock Trauma, Priority 2. All other units cleared the scene moments later.

The incident is being investigated by the Maryland State Police.

Units: PM-89, RS-8, E-81, Ut-8, Chief 8, Chief 8-1.

Mutual Aid: MSP, MSP Trooper 3
